Wall of Fame "Primary Flight was simply born out of necessity. A core group of Miami artists seized exposure through concrete wall space. Basel is a great time to get loose in Miami. In 2007, we decided to invite friends and friends of friends to have control over some concrete of their own, showcase it under one umbrella. Primary Flight came to exist through the efforts of BooksIIII, Andrew Black, Typoe, SKH, and Anthony Spinello all from Miami, Logan Hicks from NY, Lynn Yohana Howard from NY, and Modart Mag, our good friends from across the pond. These folks help give the exhibition its flavor.

This year, 40 artists were scheduled to exhibit, once we got our hands on Miami's wall of fame, it became 65 over night, by the time Basel had arrived, it had exploded into 80 artists. The interest in Wynwood murals is undeniable, we lost control over the exhibition at one point and it took on a life of its own. Primary Flight eclipsed the mainstream gallery pull, it eclipsed the Basel Circus. Mainly because of its desire to keep it all Basic, to keep it in the environment and format it all was born from.

Ewok Over the years, we all have had many arguments about street artists making the cross over to the gallery, "Does Os Gemeos' or Swoon's work maintain the same power on a canvas as it does on the street?" or any writer or street artist's work for that matter. Primary Flight exists because it is in the perfect place, at the perfect time. We play host to street artists from all over the globe and writers from the worlds greatest crews. All getting down for one reason, "Here is a wall. Paint it, and relax."

Depoe The exhibition is one giant hustle, Primary Flight itself has zero budget. Some artists have private funding, others come on their own coin. The all mighty dollar is thrown to the wind because the energy that exists in Miami that time of year is priceless and this year Primary Flight took the art world by storm. We look at it like each artist is giving a gift to the city, the murals ride and when all the other artists, galleries, and fairs leave after their four day fuck fest with Miami, our exhibition continues to make an impact on its surroundings. We are currently building the Wynwood district's Street Level Collection. Never before did Miami have such a wide range of street art until we got involved and the best part is that the organizers are from different regions, having their effect on one small section of the city, and that one small section of the city responds with a similar experience. Primary Flight during Art Basel is Magical, I think, I mean . . . We just do it because we really feel obligated to do so, that statement includes the artists.

Primary Flight has staked its claim in the city of Miami, Maybe we take it to the world forum. Regardless, we will be making every effort to grow the exhibition, in the purest ways possible.
